§ 8.08.010. Definitions.

  • For purposes of this chapter the following definitions shall apply:

    A.

    "City-county" is the local government of the city and county of Butte-Silver Bow and includes that area within its territorial limits.

    B.

    "Containers" are approved standardized heavy-duty plastic receptacles used for the disposal and storage of litter as designated by the department of public works.

    C.

    "Curbside" includes but is not limited to the placement of containers on the side of a road, sidewalk, or alley that is near a curb or edge of roadway.

    D.

    "Litter" is any quantity of uncontainerized paper, metal, plastic, glass or miscellaneous solid waste which may be classed as trash, debris, rubbish, refuse, garbage or junk.

    E.

    "Private property" includes, but is not limited to, the following exterior locations owned by private individuals, firms, corporations, institutions or organizations: yards, grounds, driveways, entranceways, passageways, parking areas, working areas, storage areas, vacant lots and recreation facilities.

    F.

    "Public property" includes, but is not limited to, the following exterior locations: streets, street medians, roads, road medians, catch basins, sidewalks, strips between streets and sidewalks, lanes, alleys, public rights-of-way, public parking lots, school grounds, public housing project grounds, public vacant lots, parks, beaches, playgrounds, other publicly owned recreation facilities, and public waterways and bodies of water.

    G.

    "Recyclables" are materials that still have useful physical or chemical properties after serving their original purpose and that can, therefore, by re-sued or remanufactured into additional products.

    H.

    "Recycling" means the process by which materials otherwise destined for disposal at a landfill are collected, reprocessed, or manufactured and reused.
