§ 2.90.030. Board created—Composition—Members' terms and removal—Vacancy filling—Officers' election—Compensation.

  • There is hereby created a Butte-Silver Bow Tourism Business Improvement District Board of Trustees which board shall consist of not less than five or more than seven members to be appointed by the chief executive and approved by the council of commissioners, the governing body of the city-county of Butte-Silver Bow, Montana, as follows:

    A.

    The citizen members shall consist of owners of property or their assignees within the tourism business improvement district.

    B.

    The members of the board shall be appointed at the first regular meeting of the council after passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter, with three of the members to serve for one, two and three years respectively and two additional members to each serve for a term of four years and a sixth or seventh member, if any, to serve for a term of two years and three years respectively.

    C.

    Members may be removed for cause by a two-thirds majority of the council upon written charges and after a public hearing.

    D.

    Vacancies on the board shall be filled for the unexpired term of any member whose term becomes vacant in the same manner as members are originally appointed and confirmed.

    E.

    At the first meeting after appointment, the board shall elect a chairperson and vice-chairperson to serve for a period to be set by the board. The board shall also name the executive director of a nonprofit convention and visitors' bureau as the director of the Tourism Business Improvement District.

    F.

    Board members shall serve without compensation. Board members shall be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in the performance of their duties in the same manner as employees of the city-county are reimbursed.
