Article II. Board |
§ 2.56.130. Establishment.
There is created a board to supervise the affairs and management of the public archives, which board shall consist of seven members to be appointed by the chief executive and confirmed by the council of commissioners. All members of the board must reside within the jurisdictional area of Butte-Silver Bow.
A.
The members of this board shall hold office for three years and at least one such member must be appointed at the first regular meeting of the council of commissioners of each year. Provided that at the first meeting of the council of commissioners after the passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter, the chief executive shall appoint seven members of such board, two to serve for one year, three to serve for two years and two to serve for three years.
B.
Members may be reappointed for additional three-year terms.
C.
Members may be removed for cause by a two-thirds majority of the confirming authority upon written charges and after public hearing.
D.
Vacancies of the board shall be filled for the expired term of any member whose term becomes vacant in the same manner as members are originally appointed and confirmed.
E.
At the first meeting after appointment, the board shall elect a chairman and vice-chairman to serve for a period to be set by the board.
